Lighting and Space
Lighting and space are very happy bedfellows. Where space is constrained, for instance in bathrooms, the introduction of lighting can do wonders. There is a reason why bathrooms and many other smaller spaces are often overlit, as it really does open up the area spatially.
In the home, lighting can be used where rooms are lacking in a spatial dimension. Natural lighting works the best, and so in darker rooms it definitely pays to open them up to the sun. This can be achieved with the introduction of venetian blinds for example, which can be adjusted to let in more or less amounts of sunlight.
Lights also work very well in conjunction with mirrors. A well placed mirror will capture light, and give the illusion of depth and more space. Again in bathrooms this is why the space is often overburdened with mirrors and lights, as it all combines to create increased spatial potential. With this in mind, the introduction of led downlights can work really well to enhance space in any room.
In commercial spaces, the introduction of lights is one of the best ways to increase the spatial potential of buildings. Retail outlets for example are often very highly lit, so as to exhibit products more clearly, but equally to create a bigger sense of space. With this in mind, wall lights can be used very effectively to increase the spatial potential of commercial spaces.
